Manual Getting started
Your first design in five minutes
Turn a logo into stitches, check it, and export a file. No embroidery knowledge needed.
You will turn a logo into stitches. Use any simple picture with flat colours, like the Kadwood hibiscus.
1. Get a design#
- On Home, click Digitize a picture….
- Choose a PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG file.
- Watch Lilo trace the picture and lay stitches on screen. This takes a few seconds.
Digitize means "turn a picture into stitches". Lilo does it for you.
2. Size it and pick a hoop#
The hoop is the frame that holds the cloth tight. Your design must fit inside it.
- In the left panel, set Width in millimetres. A logo on a suit lining often works at 40 to 80 mm.
- Check the hoop chip. If your design sticks out of the frame, press Smallest hoop that fits, or choose your machine's hoop. Read Sizing and hoops.
3. Tell Lilo what you are sewing on#
Open the Sewing setup card on the right. Pick the fabric, the thread weight and the quality. Lilo adjusts spacing and underlay for you. Read Sewing setup.
4. Preview#
Press Play in the stitch player under the canvas. The needle sews the design stitch by stitch. It stops at each colour change and tells you which thread to swap in.
5. Send or export#
- Press Send to send it to a Brother or Baby Lock machine over Wi-Fi. Read Send a design.
- Press Export to save a file for a USB stick or another machine. Read Choosing a format.
Watch the workflow strip#
The strip at the top of the editor has five steps: Get a design, Size and hoop, Stitches, Preview and Send. Each ticks itself off when you finish it. Click a step to open the right panel and see a tip.
Before you sew for real#
Always sew a test on a scrap of the same cloth. Lilo's numbers are good starting points, not promises. If the test puckers or leaves gaps, go to Fixing sew-out problems.
