Helpers inside Lilo: tour, strip, hints and warnings
How the first-launch tour, the five-step workflow strip, the ? hints and the warnings tray work, and how to turn them off.
Lilo has four helpers. All of them are quiet. None of them stops you from working.
The first-launch tour#
The first time you open Lilo, a friendly host asks what you want to make:
- a picture,
- a drawing from scratch,
- a monogram, or
- an existing file.
Each choice shows a few short tips that point at the real buttons. A tip moves on when you do the thing it asks, so you learn by doing. You can Skip at any time. Lilo remembers that you finished or skipped, and does not show it again.
To see it again, open Help and press Replay the tour.
The workflow strip#
Five steps sit across the top of the editor.
- Get a design ticks when the canvas has something on it.
- Size and hoop ticks when the design fits the hoop.
- Stitches ticks when Lilo sees no stitch quality problems.
- Preview ticks when you have played the stitches or looked at the realistic view.
- Send ticks when you have exported or sent the design.
Click any step. The panel for that step opens and a small tip card explains what to do.
Hints#
A small round ? sits next to almost every control. Click it, or tab to it and press Enter. A card shows:
- What it does in a few words,
- When to change it,
- a typical value, and
- a Read more link to the full guide page.
Press Esc to close it.
The warnings tray#
When Lilo spots something that may sew badly, a note appears in a small tray in the right-hand column, under the Sewing setup card. For example: your design is bigger than the hoop, or your letters are too small for the thread. Each note has a button that fixes it in one click, or a link to read more. You can dismiss a note. It stays dismissed until the problem changes.
Read What the warnings mean.
Opening Help from anywhere#
- Click Help at the top of the window.
- Press ⌘? on Mac or Ctrl+? on Windows and Linux.
- Click any ? and then Read more.
