The sequencer
Change the order shapes are sewn in, hide shapes, group by colour, and manage reference images.
The sequencer is the panel on the right. It lists your shapes in the order the machine will sew them. It has four tabs.
Objects#
Each row is a shape. Rows are grouped into colour blocks. A colour block is a run of shapes that use the same thread, so the machine does not change thread inside it.
- Move up and Move down change the sewing order.
- Hide takes a shape off the canvas and out of the file. Use it to check one layer at a time.
- Double-click a name to rename it.
- Details shows stitch and point counts.
- Each colour block can move up or down as a whole.
Order matters#
Sew big fills first, then borders, then details on top. If a fill is sewn after its outline, the fill covers it.
Colours#
The Colours tab lists each thread and how many objects and stitches use it.
- Group by colour reorders objects so each colour is sewn once. It cuts thread changes.
- Merge into folds a colour into another.
- Swap replaces a thread with a different one.
- Select selects every object of that colour.
Read Fewer colour changes.
Images#
The Images tab holds reference pictures. They are not stitched.
- Add image… puts a picture behind the design to trace over or compare to.
- Set the opacity and width.
- Lock so you cannot drag it by accident. Hide and Remove work as you expect.
My Threads#
The fourth tab is your shelf of spools. Read My Threads.
