Manual Preview

Realistic view and view options

Switch the canvas between a flat plan and a thread-like preview, and turn the grid, reference picture and jumps on or off.

The small checkboxes in the corner of the canvas change what you see. They never change the stitches.

The four view options#

  • Realistic draws each stitch as a shaded thread, with heavier thread for triple, rope and satin. It shows how the design will really look.
  • Grid shows a square grid on the canvas. Use it to line things up.
  • Reference shows your original picture behind the stitches, so you can compare them.
  • Jumps shows the thread that travels between shapes without sewing. These jumps are trimmed on the machine, but too many mean extra work.

Turn Realistic off to see a clean plan. It is easier to read when you are checking spacing.

The hoop frame#

You can also show the hoop frame with its clamp. Choose it in the Hoop section. It makes the preview look like the real hoop. Read Sizing and hoops.

Zoom and pan#

  • Scroll or pinch to zoom.
  • Press ⌘K and choose Fit to window to see the whole design.
  • Hold Space and drag to pan.
  • Actual size (⌘0) shows the true millimetre size on your screen.
